This particular piece, “Son of a Dove”, is beeswax and cinnamon on wood panel.  It references the Hebrew form of Leviticus 5:7, “if he cannot afford a ram, then he shall bring to the LORD as his compensation for the sin that he has committed two turtledoves or two pigeons (lit. son of a dove), one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering.”
